Let's play a game......
Ok so let's get one thing straight Groover's - I'm not into board games AT ALL.
For some reason I find them really boring and as sad as it is to say when Baby Jake really was Baby Jake he would want me to play monopoly with him. And I would try everything to get out of it. Sometimes he would have to play by himself... I know I'm a mean Mum but sorry I just can't stand them! - Boardgames that is.
Our version looked like this:
Sometimes I would give in.... I know it was a weak moment! and play Monopoly with Jake. And I would play it to lose, I would try really really hard and guess what? I would bloody win more!!!! It def was a bad theory!
And when Trivial Pursuit came out I used to say (and still do...) that I am only good at the pink bits! I REALLY AM....
Get your minds out of the gutter...... I'm talking Entertainment and all that goss. For some reason I retain all this information, stuff that probably won't help me later in life but do you know I can even tell you things about movies I haven't even seen. It's my hidden talent.
I knowwwwwww I'm a freak of nature, buttttt we don't have time to go into that now. That's a whole other BLOG!!! LOL
So tonight's game is a rare thing. You know similiar to a Solar Eclipse - it doesn't happen very often.
So the game: Name your three most favourite movies of all time.
Now 1 & 2 were easy. It was Number 3 that I struggled with.
Ok, soooooo
Number 1. - Grease
I was 12 years old and I can remembering queuing with a friend all the way around the block to get into the old "George Picture Theatre" in the city of Brisbane.
OMG I loved it. I can't even tell you how many times I have seen it. (Yesss it's that many). You name it I had it: tee shirts, records, books, ruler. I remember entering a Grease Competition over and over and over again and won many wonderful Grease themed prizes :)
I'm a big big fan of Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta and this movies has a little place in my heart!
No. 2 - Dirty Dancing
I can remember seeing this movie on my Honeymoon in January 1988 on the Gold Coast. Now I wasn't sure what it was about and remember thinking what a strange title. But ohhhhh how I loved it.
Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.... ahhhh good memories. It was such a great movie and the soundtrack was played many many times prob back then in my cassette player in my car LOL.
"Nobody puts Baby in the Corner" became a famous saying as well as "I carried a Watermelon".
I remember the scene when Baby has an argument with her Dad about him being disappointed in her behaviour. It struck a chord with me because you see my Grandad and I didn't ever really have any arguments. But just before I turned 18 I moved out of home to share a flat with another girl. Of course it was really to be closer to my boyfriend (who I later married and divorced!) so that he could stay over. That was the real reason.....
And when I told my family I was moving out well there was a few harsh words said and whilst for some people it might even have sounded like an argument, for our family it was HUGE. And more than anything my Grandad was soooo disappointed in me because for that generation you were supposed to stay home until you got married.
Of course we all kissed and made up a couple of months later but it's one of the big arguments that I have ever had with my family. And so when I saw Dirty Dancing that scene with Baby and her father really struck a chord with me and I remembering have a bit of a cry.
And years later when Patrick Swayze passed away it was very very sad as I guess we all remember him young and vibrant from the Dirty Dancing days....
And last but not least
No. 3 - Pretty Woman
I knowwwwww what can I say, I'm such a suck for Girlie Movies. But come on, who can forget this scene:
Shop assistant: “Hello, can I help you?”
Vivian: “I was in here yesterday, you wouldn’t wait on me.”
Shop assistant: “Oh.”
Vivian: “You people work on commission, right?”
Shop assistant: “Yeah.”
Vivian: “Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.”
Best lines and best moment in the movie as Vivian gets her own back on the rude shop assistant. With the song Pretty Woman playing in the background. I just loved it!!!
So that brings me to the end of my own Morley little Game. Fun wasn't it.
Nowwwwwww you Groover's are pretty quiet sometimes. I would soooo love to hear your thoughts on what your own top three movies of all time are!
love
