Saturday Escape.....

Well the rain overnight wasn't as bad as predicted.... down in Brisbane anyway! But having said that still glad we cancelled our weekend away.

So to make it up to Funny Nana, I took her shopping.

Now the one thing you need to know about me is this - I don't like shopping! I knowwwwww and I call myself a Girl LOL.

I guess it all stems back to when I was a young single mum and had no money, mind you it's not like I have that much more now.... but back then it was pretty tough and I guess you condition yourself not to look at things you cannot afford. I mean what's the point? You only get yourself upset and sad about the things that you wish you could have, but instead need to save your money to feed your child! Silly Jake for needing to eat....

So I'm the kinda shopper that is in and out. Get what I need and I'm gone with the wind...

This meant that today I needed to fill in my time at the shops, as I let Funny Nana go do her thing (it pains me to watch her shop what can I say...) and then I go do mine.

But what should I do?

Well Groover's I decided to treat myself to a few "Me Things" as you do.

First up was a pedicure. Of course I normally only do this when I want "Holiday Feet" for that special holiday butttt I wasn't going anywhere this time, just home... but I thought it might be nice to see nice feet. The biggest thing I wanted to take care of today was to get rid of what I like to call "My Old Woman Feet"! You know the heel area. I would just like to say right now out loud WTF happens to us when we get older and our heels somehow turn into elephant skin, with 532 layers!!!!

And just so you know, I think elephants are cute. Dry, cracked heels - not so much!!

It's the one thing I hate about getting older, so far anyway....

So I took care of my Old Woman Heels and boy they look swish :)

And thennnnnnnnn I decided to have a nice little massage!

Now I haven't had many massages in my life and I normally wait until I am down at Kingscliff on holidays as there is this amazing beautician there that doesn't charge the earth. The other thing (for me that is) is that I guess to have somebody touch my body like that I kinda have to feel comfortable. I mean I have never had a man do a massage (unless of course it was a partner... mmmm let's not take me down that train of thought thanks!) and feel way more comfortable having a woman do it.

Because you see to me a massage really is something more intimate that you do with your "Special Friend" not some random stranger in a shop!!! But hey that's just me I guess and we all know that I am a freak of nature :)

But I was brave (not brave enough to have a man do it.... TODAY ANYWAYS hehehe) and my goodness me it was just divine! Loved it and today with all the rain around it was just a lovely day to have it done.

I also took myself to a lovely little cafe and had a nice breakfast. Let me ask you kids something - Have you ever gone and eaten alone at a cafe/restaurant? Maybe taken yourself off to the movies, with it just being you? Or even gone away on a little holiday for a few nights just by yourself?

I do it all the time and I have to tell you Groover's - I LOVE IT! I think it all stems back to being an only child and having to entertain myself when my Grandparents and Funny Nana would have their lunch time nap! (the joys of living with Grandparents..) but it taught me to enjoy my own company and as I grew up I can honestly tell you that I think this is a great skill to have.

I have a friend who has told me over the years that she thinks that I am strange that I like to do these kind of things by myself.

With the movies I like to go to what I call "The Nana Session", you know first thing in the morning 10am when all the ladies and Nana's go. I would never go say on a Saturday night and be surrounded by couples all in love! Come onnn I'm a crazy, but not that crazy... And sometimes when I am out, a coffee, maybe lunch or breakfast is something that I am not shy to have by myself. And over the last so many years on a couple of occasions I have gone away by myself to a resort, where of course I feel comfortable and just spend a couple of days just being me and enjoying the peace & quiet!

The way I see it, esp with going to the movies is that sometimes if I wait until someone is free to go see that movie that I have been hanging out for, by the time that we do get around to go and see it, it has finished andddd let's face it, when you are sitting in the movies and the lights go down, really who are you going to talk to anyway!

So there you go Groover's a few little sad insights into what makes me, ME! Exciting isn't it hehehe.

So after a morning of pampering, I spent the afternoon working on my book and had a teeny eeny Nana Nap (cause all the hip kids are doing it!) and tonight my friend James is coming over to do some last minute touches to the spankin new website!

It's funny because James is Jake's friend and when I told him yesterday that James is coming over, it freaked him out that I am hanging out with HIS FRIEND! But as James so kindly put it last night "I've known you almost along as I've know Jake. I'd say it's safe to say we're friends too". Isn't that nice of him to say :) And it is very true.

Well that's another Saturday done and dusted, how did your Saturday turn out?

Did I say that?

Tonight I had a lovely dinner with my neighbour Narelle. It's always great to catch up and have a good old chat and a few laughs to boot!

It's funny as I was telling her all about the new car but guess what? She already knew because she reads The Morley Report! I am such a dick..... because as we were talking she looked outside and pointed to a car and said "does it look like that?" and I was in shock because I am thinking does she have ESP??? Then it hit me THE MORLEY REPORT....

It's funny how I forget that I put it all out there for friends andddd strangers to read! And you know it reminds me of when I was 15 and worked for Coles Department Store in Brisbane City and had a badge that said something like Welcome to Coles my name is Karen... And sometimes some customers would say at the end "Thanks Karen" and I would look at them strange like - how do they know my nameeee?

What can I say I do have fake blonde hair! LOL

So I guess if I want to keep something a surprise I need to not write about it hehehe. Funny that....

And speaking of the new Car Car, I had a call yesterday to say that my car is arriving into the country tomorrow and then they will detail, wash and wax it etc. and it should be ready hopefully by the end of next week.

I joked with the guy on the phone that it sounded like she was at the beautician with the waxing etc. and he laughed (noooo HE DID!!) and he promised me she would get a massage and I said maybe even a pedicure. And then I said to him, do you know what a Pedicure is? And he said no, that he would have to Google it hehehe. So I said it's when you get your toenails painted. Boyssss they do make me laugh sometimes!

And speaking of laughs! I have to tell you that I sooo love working with my team of boys/men every day. They give me lots of crap but don't you kids worry about me as I give it back just as much :) I know hard to believe!

They def are a bunch of characters and love to push the boundaries and on the odd occasion I sometimes feel like I am their entertainment, when I lose it with them etc. And today I told them that after living with Jake, I def know how to give it back to them and of course they have to put up with me, my 101 questions (to do my job properly) my sad jokesss and just me in general!

But you know what (and don't tell them this one!) even though they drive me insane some days I do love that they have spunk and just aren't boring old door mats with no personality! But if you tell them this I will deny deny deny!!! :) And then have to kill you after....

Ohhhh and I didn't tell you about my little trip on Monday night!

Now straight away you would be saying "OMG! Where did you she go now?" and the answer would be - onto my driveway! Because this time around my trip was a fall! Yepppp was leaving the house with Funny Nana, tired at the end of the day, not concentrating and WOOSHKA! down I went! Of course I got back up again but much later in the night when I went downstairs to have a spa my left foot hurt and as you do I thought it was due to sitting on it, you know it felt numb and had pins and needles. But nooooooooo in the early hours of the morning when I got up to go to the bathroom (yes it's something even I do!) I was hobbling along the hallway and then it struck me: It was from my fall!

I sure wish I had a better story, like Funny Nana & I went out to a strip club and I fell over drunk..... you know something classy like that! LOL

But no, just the normal kind of fall that sad people do :(

Yesterday and today I had to wear thongs/flip flops to work and limp around... Tomorrow I am going to try to wear two shoes! I knowwwwww I'm kinda stylish like that hehehe.

And Peter our Mower Man is back on the scene creating some magic which I promise to share soon on here. No rabbits more like making my hole look pretty!

My Dove Family are still taking turns sitting on the one little egg and all seems pretty good in the world of Morley as I type!

Hope you Groover's are having a nice week too!

Love Ya

Holiday Feet Strike again....

The other night we were talking about photo's and there is one photo that has stuck in my mind for many years that for me is the classic holiday pic!

Now I have search and searched on the internet and for the life of me I just cannot find it :(

The pic was on a Club Med brochure in the 1990's and was of one foot on the beach, in the sand with water all around it. It had a great tan and was beautifully manicured with this amazing ocean green nail polish....

Isn't it funny how that one picture can stick in your mind and represent so many things to different people.

And due to this same picture whenever I am heading on a beach holiday I get me some "Holiday Feet" :)

Nothing says holiday to me like bright nail polish sparkling in the sun shining back at me! And tonight I went to my favourite beautician at:

Dextress Hair Face and Beauty

The Beautiful Di and got my holiday feet happening for my upcoming trip on Saturday!

It is so relaxing to sit back and have a lovely Pedicure!

And check out these disposable thongs!!!

How stylish am I! You see I'm trying to start a trend LOL

Crazy I know but for me it's all part of the process of "going on holidays".

So I have a another little holiday story. Have you ever been on a Houseboat?

Yesterday when I was at lunch one of the guys I work with mentioned that he was going on a houseboat in the new year. And it reminded me.... of a few years back when a group of us went on a Houseboat for the weekend.

It left from Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast and on the Friday night we decided to have dinner at one of their lovely restaurants and stay in port for the night. Now when you are in port you cannot use the toilet on board! And they give you keys to a special toilet block etc.

So picture this, there were 6 of us, lovely dinner, lots of drinks and we all go to bed on the houseboat. Of course I wake up about 4am and have to go to the bathroom and there is nooo way I'm walking up to that toilet block. So I get up go to the bathroom and when I flush the toilet I WAKE UP THE WHOLE MARINA as the pump on the boat starts up BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM hehehe. I of course woke up everyone on the houseboat and so they all thought stuff it, they would go to the toilet too!

We all joked that the next morning in port out houseboat would be covered all around the houseboat blocking our way! :)

Now the next morning one of the staff took us out and showed the guys how to work the houseboat and then they went back to shore in a little dingy. And one of the girls who will remain nameless had been dying to go to the toilet and Groover's there is no easy way to tell this story but like this:

She had to do a poo!

Sorry, but it had to be said for the story.

And so we are all upstairs on the deck, she has finally gone to the toilet for peace and quiet and there is a large window in the bathroom and she could see the ocean and the shore etc.

Next thing she hears all this kerfuffle and loud voices but she couldn't work out what we were yelling and thennnnnn she heard running footsteps....... When she looked outside the window we were getting closer and closer to the shore!

That poo she sooo wanted to do, welllll it went straight up back inside and that's where it stayed for the next few days! She was soooo scared we were going to crash.

We didn't, what had happened was that the guys went to turn the houseboat but didn't realise you had to plan ahead and start turning wayyyyyyyy before you needed too! It was a close shave but we didn't come aground and off we went for a wonderful weekend on the water.

But my poor friend hehehe.

So on that lovely note, I'm outta here!

Night
