Like a Virgin.... Ohhh
Well tonight's blog comes direct to you from my good friend Barb! Now you may remember Barb from previous blogs like Hip Hip Hooray, It's Peppers Bale...., Hazy Days of Summer, Do you like Pina Colada'sssssssssssss and Did someone say Last Drinks?
Yep that Barb, the one that I recently went away with for a week who's Coffee Cup also took a holiday (if that jigs your memory).
So over to Miss Barb.... or Ms Bar or just Barb! :) Take it away baby....
Hello everyone, I'm Barbara. Karen's friend Barbara. Karen has asked me to do a guest blog for the Morley Report. Now when Karen asked me to do this I thought to myself "what should i write about...politics?? the crisis in the middle east?? charitable acts??" Nope. None of that in fact. You see I have chosen to write about Madonna. Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone Penn Ritchie.
My love affair for all things Madonna began in the early 80's. I was watching Countdown when John Paul Young introduced the next video. He said this new artist has been described as the female Michael Jackson. The screen faded to black and then Madonna appeared singing Holiday. I spent the next couple of years in a cloud of hair spray, fluro tube skirts, a gazillion bangles, strategically placed moles on the upper lip and lace fingerless gloves. If I was honest Id say those years were the most exciting hope filled times. You know - being a teenager and thinking that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. Where you thought - you can achieve so much if you try - the world and all it has to offer can be yours. Ask yourself - when was the last time you felt truly free and thought that whatever you wanted to do COULD BE DONE??
It was also around this time that Madonna appeared at Live Aid singing Holiday and Into the Groove sporting a new red hairdo. I taped that on my VCR. I played and played and played her performance over and over and over. I knew all the moves. It was my prized possession. I would come home from school and watch it religiously. Imagine my horror to come home one afternoon to find that my Dad had taped over it with a boxing match. Thats right a boxing match. I fell to my knees , cried and swore that Id never speak to my father again. Of course I did speak to my father again albeit through clenched teeth.
Over the years Madonna changed her look soooooo many times. With each look came a new album and a new concert. Geez - I knew all the moves of those earlier concerts. I could probably still bust the moves to Into the Groove and Express Yourself. Shall we go for a trip down memory lane?
Vogue is vintage Madonna for your soul. It was beginning of the 90's and the beginning of glam Madonna and, as if it was possible, the decade where Madonna pushed the boundaries even further.
Blonde Ambition Tour (truth or dare anyone?)
The Sex Book. A coffee table book about Sex. What the hell was she thinking.
So this brings me to 1993. I was living in London with a friend. Now picture this. Two women in their pajamas. In the public hallway of a building where they were living. On a public phone. Buying tickets to the Madonna Girlie Show at Wembley Stadium. Upon making the transaction and hanging up we were screaming....jumping up and down.....more screaming - its no wonder tenants in the building all came out of their units to see what the commotion was. It was very exciting. The Girlie Show didn't let us down.
Actually just as I proof read this Ive realised that I probably sound like a gay woman recounting my Madonna love affair. I'm not by the way. Not that there's anything wrong with that [as Seinfeld would say]
Anyway I'll keep going.
So now its 2011. She has been around on our screens and radios for nearly 30 years. Dear Lord, I suddenly feel old. Madonna is about to release her 12th studio album in 2012 and launch a tour to coincide. I'm not sure I await the release of this like I did when True Blue or Like a Prayer came out BUT it will be exciting.
My top five Madonna Albums:
5. Ray of Light
4. Erotica
3. Like a Virgin
2. Immaculate Collection
1. Confessions on a Dance floor
Controversial??? Let me know what your top 5 Madonna albums are.
Thanks for reading!

The Morley Report Anonymous
Well Groover's tonight we have another blog from my mate Deb. I'm a bit under the weather tonight.... and here I was thinking it was Sydney and that I was too old to partay! hehehe.
I think it's more of a head cold (thank the LORD it isn't Man Flu!). So a big shout out to Deb for coming to my rescue! Thank my dear xxx And enjoy the read kids!
Take it away Deb....
Do you have any obsessions?? In my work I have found more and more people obsesses with social media.
OK I can personally confess that I need some serious help.
I have my BlackBerry no further than 1 metre away from me at any time, and I have a different ring to let me know if a call is coming in SMS/Facebook Message/Twitter/Photo and then a different ring for every email address. Gosh I am techno savvy.
Then I have my computer on 24/7 which has lead to my obsession with Facebook and emails, prior to breaking my foot and now only have 4 walls to look at, I would answer a business email, txt, facebook message within seconds.. Again clearly I need help.
So being in the Media and Social Media game, I of course have to be on top of ever major internet social media sensation, so let me tell you just what the primary sensations all mean:
And then if that isn’t enough for you, don’t forget to get into all of these :
And then there is my little obsession with that nasty little blog THE MORLEY REPORT.
Well I can’t live without it, and needless to say I was NOT impressed with this weekend MS MORLEY !! Oh Ms Morley needs to go off and have a wonderful time in Sydney. Well while the rest of us go 3 days without a report.
So I have decided to start The Morley Report Anonymous for all those people that go into severe depression if TMR isn’t out by 9pm, as I lay awake waiting for my special ding to tell me it’s posted.
We can all meet on The Morley Report Facebook page and talk about our hero Karen, talk about the blogs we have loved, and perhaps even bombard past blogs and leave messages for Karen as little treasures so that she is empowered to keep writing, otherwise the world may just come to an end. ☺
OK now that I have that out, feel free to contact me via my facebook page “The Butterfly Experience Media & PR” page and keep all my obsessions going, as I do love them.
Have a great day/night/weekend depending on when you read this.
Cheers
Deb

GUEST POST: Blog your life away
Hey Groovers,
From time to time over the next few weeks I am going to be having "Guest Bloggers" writing blogs for us.
I think it's always interesting to hear what other people are thinking.
So tonight the lovely Deb has written us a post all about the world of Blogging and I just wanted to give her a BIG MORLEY Thank You!!!
Take it away Deb.....
Blogging, it’s been around quite a while now and I have to say that it’s taken a while for me to get into it.
After all how strange that someone would want to talk about their lives and share every intimate detail and even stranger that anyone other than close family members would be interested.
But then The Morley Report was born to a strange friend called Karen, ok I only thought she was strange because she wanted to blog, no ok sometimes she is just strange....(see below) ☺
Well Ms Morley is a walking talking “I remember when.....” sorta gal who has had quite a life full of good and bad memories, but certainly great memories about her Grandad, I don’t believe I have ever gone a day without a “Grandad would of said....... “, it’s nice that some people are able to have a beautiful bond with a family member where simple little things can remind them of the good times. I don’t have a family like that so it’s quite a bizarre concept for me.
So back to the concept of blogging, it really has turned into the new mini short stories of the new age. People across the world are reading more blogs than books, and you can become famous for just being yourself (I can just see Karen becoming the new Kim Kardashian). Our Ms Karen is getting readers now from all over the world, which I might say she is very proud of, HELLO to Karen’s readers in the USA and Russia today ☺
I can confess that I am now a little obsessed with my daily dose of The Morley Report and I can get very impatient and start texting Karen to hurry up and post if it’s getting too late. On those times she is busy living life so she can entertain us, I will let her off the hook for an extra couple of hours. (I know I am so good to her) And lately I have been the reason she has been late (sorry about that), as I am newly disabled for the next 8 or so weeks and without the amazing friendship of Karen and the Morley Manor Clan I would of truly been in trouble. (however as she is leaving I remind her that she only lives 10 minutes away and I would appreciate if she could rush home and write The Morley Report and have it up in 30 minutes, it helps with my medication ☺)
So I can tell you lots goes into all this blogging caper and it’s almost like a full time job with serious responsibilities to keep the blog pumping. But I can tell you that I know the system now and I can’t have a crisis until after 7pm, so that Karen has time to put YOU the reader of The Morley Report first, it brings her so much joy each day to press post, and then watch the numbers of people around the world click onto the blog. Don’t forget to say hi, hello, how are ya to Karen as you read her blog I know it will make her day.
Well I am now officially a blogger, so I can’t pick on bloggers any more (bugger) ☺
Have a great day
